This little oil painting (12 x 16) shows the black sand beach at Kalapana on Hawaii's Big Island.The title refers to the approaching rain on the horizon and also to the fact that the whole area was soon to be engulfed in 50+ feet of lava around 1990 including this pristine beach. The painting is not for sale. I created it for my own collection to help remind me of this beautiful spot where I used to hang out and surf in my younger years.
