Here is another large wave portrait in oil depicting a powerful beach-break in northern California. Back in the early days I usually painted waves that appealed to us surfers, especially during my Hawaii years. You can see some of these on this site under the category "Airbrush Waves". Nowadays I delight in painting what surfers would call un-ridable slop. The waves are more interesting in their quirky, disorganized way. In "Frothy Waves" I am proud of the way I rendered the roiling, swirling foam of the wave that has just exploded on the sand. This was quite a challenge. 20" x 58" oil on canvas.
