They call this area where I live "Wine Country" for a reason. Vineyards and wineries are very commonplace in Sonoma and Napa counties and although not without controversy, they add much to the economy and from an artist's viewpoint, to the scenery. For me a good painting depicts a patchwork of grapes interspersed with oak studded hills and stands of native forest. The orderly geometric arrangement of the colorful vines can be pleasing to the eye especially if contrasted with random elements of nature.
