About twenty minutes from my studio in Sonoma County, CA is the picturesque little town of Bodega Bay. Alfred Hitchcock made the place infamous by filming his dark classic "The Birds" there, probably because of its foggy, moody feeling. It is a favorite subject for me. The bay is home to seagulls, cormorants and pelicans among others and no painting of the area is complete without these beautiful creatures. I also make sure to include a fishing or crab boat or two. I am drawn to these tough working boats with all their equipment and elaborate rigging. Every old boat on the bay has a few stories to tell.
